St Annes is a small charity run care home in Burgess Hill who provide person cantered care  for up to  19 resident’s aged 65 and over.

We are currently looking for 2 night care workers to join our established and friendly care team (2 nights each).  Night shift hours are 8pm-8am.

There will also be opportunity to cover other nights on a bank basis.

While experience would be an advantage, we are willing to consider applicants without care experience on the understanding that training will be initiated on day shifts and you will be expected to undertake “The Care Certificate” during your probation period.

Outline of duties

·        To provide waking night duty cover in the home.

·        To undertake certain domestic duties that can be performed during the night hours.

·        To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of clients in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.

·        To take delegated responsibilities in the charge of the care users under your care, to the appropriate level.

·        Principal Responsibilities

·        Assist a senior member of staff who has been assessed as competent with medication administration.

·        Carry out regular checks around the home at intervals determined by the proprietor and with due regard for clients’ privacy.

·        Carry out regular checks on the building with special reference to fire protection.

·        Answer emergency bells, assess the situation, deal with the client seeking help or call upon Medical assistance.

·        Assist residents who need help reassurance or comfort.

·        Assist residents preparing for bed and waking in the morning as directed.

·        In the time available between attending to residents, undertake domestic duties primarily in the fields of laundry and ironing, food preparation or cleaning as directed.

·        Read and write reports in case notes. Update care plans and complete night risk assessments.

·        Take part in staff meetings and training activities as directed.

·        Assist with the giving of medication; to take full responsibility for this if appointed “person in charge” as above.

·        Carry out other reasonable duties as may be required.
