Website The Grace-Eyre Foundation

The Grace Eyre Foundation is a charity that has been working with people with learning disabilities since 1898. Based in Sussex and some areas in London our mission is to work towards being led by people with learning disabilities and deliver high-quality housing, support and activities in their local communities. People with learning disabilities who use our services tell us that they want “good support from kind and friendly people” – so that is what we are looking for!

we are looking to recruit a flexible support worker to provide cover support for annual leave, sickness and training to some of our already established support services in Worthing and the surrounding area where you will be guaranteed working hours of 16 to 20 hours per week.

We have weekday, weekend and evening/sleep-in shifts available.

A brief outline of the role:

Your role will be to support people with learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs with day-to-day tasks in either our supported living houses or out in in the community.

We support people with all aspects of their lives, such as daily living skills, medication, personal care and finances as well as accessing community activities. You will need to have good communication skills and just enjoy spending time with people.

We are looking for people who are patient, compassionate, understanding and able to use their own initiative.

It is a rewarding and varied role and one that really makes a difference to the lives of the people we support. It helps them to live a fulfilled life and achieve their goals and dreams with a little help from people who care.

Some learning disability and/or caring experience in supporting people either professionally or personally is preferred for this role.

A current valid driving license and access to a car would be advantageous for this role due to the vast areas covered but we would consider applicants who know the public transport routes well and are happy to be on foot / bike going from and to some areas.

The people we support  have asked for support staff who are patience, fun, caring, understanding and will support us with going out and about in the community together.

No applicant for employment or employee will be treated less favourably than another on grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, gender, sexual orientation, marriage & civil partnership or pregnancy & maternity, and we encourage applications from people with learning disabilities or identify with being on the autistic spectrum/neurodiverse.
