Brendan, Resident Experience Manager
After 25 years in hotel management, including; sales and marketing and event management, Brendan felt that hotels had lost their focus on hospitality and ultimately, the customer. Having previously spent most of his life work in hospitality, Brendan wanted to use his transferable customer service skills to make a difference to older people.
Brendan started with Bupa in November 2019, after seeing an advert on Indeed.
My father had dementia and my mother cared for him for 6 years at home. During this time, I learnt a lot about dementia – seeing first-hand the challenge people face as they get older and how they weren’t fully supported by local services. This role combines my passion for customer service and caring for others.
Having watched my mother care for my father, I find it much easier to relate with relatives, I can really empathise with them and provide support for them and their loved ones.
We’re caring for the residents at a challenging time in their lives, but we have made a difference, made someone’s day better. When you get that ‘thank you’ from the residents, especially at a hard time – we couldn’t think of a better place to be.
